FDA approves topical eye anesthetic-Akten

Akorn Inc today reveals about the approval of new topical eye anesthetic by Food and Drug Administration.

This news was given through an announcement which was done by Eye care products maker Akorn Inc. on Wednesday 25th of October, 2008 saying that federal regulators has approved its topical eye anesthetic Akten.

Akten is an ophthalmic Gel 3.5 percent which will be launched later this month for use in procedures including cataract surgery, refractive surgery and Lasik surgery. It is believed that, Akten is the first new ocular anesthetic to get FDA approval in 40 years.
