Diagnose glaucoma with OCT instantaneously

A new device for diagnosing retina disease and glaucoma called Optical coherence tomography,(OCT) is now available in Spencer. It shows the retina problems instantaneously.

To describe, it is an imaging method which uses light to scan an eye's retina and optic disc. Similar to an ultrasound, it uses light instead of sound and offers detailed, real-time information about the structure of an eye courtesy a non-invasive, non-contact optical biopsy of the retina.OCT-imaging scans, which may be performed on undilated pupils, offer opticians and clinicians alike a new tool for the diagnosis and management of diseases such as cystoid macular edema, central serous retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, macular holes and glaucoma.

For more information about the OCT imaging method and the Cirrus HD-OCT, contact the Eyecare Centre, 3 E. 18th St., Spencer, at 262-1589.
