Australian patients waiting too long for eye surgery

EyeToday Australian Institute of Health and Welfare has announced that the waiting list for eye surgery is far more than that of other specialist surgeries.

This announcement has confirmed that the eye related problems like cataract, Glaucoma etc are increasing day by day.

They assume that the reason behind the increase of waiting list is the increase in eye related problems as compared to the number of surgeons. This eye related problems may varry from eye injury to any eye disease.

A report shows that the scenario of waiting period of the Australian patients differ from region to region. Residents in the ACT and Northern Territory were waiting for more than 6 months, residents of North South Wales faced four and a half months delay, Tasmanian patients waited for more than a year, while the Queensland patient waited just for 34 days.
