Rapid Decline in Lasik Surgery Prices in UK

In UK the cost of Lasik Surgery (Laser aided eye correction for short-sightedness, long-sightedness and astigmatism) is dropping across the board, in some clinic as much as 80% for correction of short-sightedness. Recent pricing changes for laser eye surgery across the UK means people can pay nearly £4,000 more to get rid of their glasses at one clinic compared to another. Read on to find out how you can save on your surgery without compromising quality.

For a mild short-sighted prescription, the prices per eye for laser eye surgery range from £295 up to £2,250 using similar technology, surgical training and treatment types.

An estimated 75,000 Britons undergo laser vision correction each year and only a small percentage of possible candidates have so far elected to have laser eye treatment. One of the main reasons has been prohibitive costs.

FOCUS Laser Vision in London now offers Lasik laser eye surgery from £295 per eye, making them the cheapest in the UK. FOCUS laser Vision claims to have performed LASIK surgery on celebrities like Rick Wakeman and Paul Ross.

The FDA granted Allegretto Wave the widest approval range ever initially given to a new laser for both myopic and hyperopic vision correction, when it was approved in 2003. FOCUS Laser Vision uses Allegretto Wave by WaveLight AG.

Note: The surgery is not likely to benefit people who have an eye condition in which the vision cannot be improved by wearing glasses, for example, lazy eye or age-related macular degeneration.
