InterWave Aberrometry Guided LASIK Improves Mesopic Vision (Less Halo) Over Standard LASIK
Scientists have conducted a study to analyze the results of Aberrometry guided (Inter wave) LASIK and the standard LASIK surgery based on refractive measures. The study shows that in both of the above cases, though acuity and refractive results are equal in both the cases, the Inter Wave treatment is superior in Mesopic vision.
Nearly 1 million Americans go through LASIK surgery each year. In most of the cases, patients feel a better vision. However, some complications like halos, ghost images are common among the patients. So far, no study has been made to differentiate the results of the Inter Wave and standard LASIK surgery clearly.
The aim of the research is to derive the measurement of the visual performance. The researchers have co-related them with acuity, refraction and halos severity, reported by the patients after LASIK surgery. The visual results using Inter wave treatment were compared with the results of those who have gone through traditional lasik surgery based on refraction.
There are some parameters on which the researchers have done the work. Some of them are: Pupilary zone blur anotomy, zonal root mean square retinal blur area and zonal optical power.
