Free Cataract Operation for Filipinos at Department of Health - Eastern Visayas
A great number of Filipinos nationwide are affected with various forms of eye defects and disorders, specifically blindness. In order to impart awareness to the public in seeking treatment and caring for one's eyes, the month of August was declared as Sight Saving Month.
To highlight the significance of the Sight Saving Month, a free cataract operation will be held at the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center (EVRMC) for the period August 7-11, from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. However, in order to avail of such free treatment, patients have to undergo pre-screening at said hospital.
Priority services which will be provided by the National Prevention Blindness Program are cataract services, errors of refraction, and childhood blindness.
