Early Detection Technique Essential For Dry Eye Relief
Between 10 and 30 percent of people suffer from dry eyes and doctors say if dry eyes are left untreated, they could lead to more serious problems, which include blindness, however, diagnosing dry eye syndrome is more accurate than ever thanks to a technique that helps doctors pinpoint the problem clearly, NBC 5's Meredith land reported.
"My eyes felt dry and they would burn or itch," Debbie Arbique, an ophthalmology patient said. "I don't think they could have predicted that I personally would have ended up in a position of leading to blindness, but do you want to take the chance?"
Dr. James McCulley, who is head of the department of ophthalmology at the University of Texas, Southwestern said an eye stain called lissamine green detected Arbique's dry eye syndrome long before the traditional strips could.
