Axial Myopia May be Treated By Hydrogel

A new treatment for axial myopia or nearsightedness has been developed by James Su, a graduate student researcher, co-advised by MSE and Bioengineering Professor Kevin Healy and School of Optometry Professor Christine Wildsoet. This promising treatment is based on a synthetic bio material which is known as hydrogel.

A 47 year old man has received $2.1 million in an out-of-court settlement of a malpractice lawsuit after a LASIK procedure left him legally blind. This New Jersey based patient and his wife have received the settlement in a lawsuit against Dr. Joseph Dello Russo and the New Jersey Eye Center.
