Lasik Surgery Restores Eyesight to Legally Blind

LASIK eye surgery brought Susan(Susan Darst Williams) from the brink of legal blindness to 20/20 vision, at least for distance. Close-up sight in the right eye is still fuzzy, and she may need to go back for a tune-up. But man! she can actually see now.

Free Cataract Surgery For Working Poor

Surgery to fix the lens can cost $5,000 per eye, a hefty price especially for those without insurance. So next month for the first time ever, Dr. Ingraham and some of his staff from Geisinger will take part in Mission Cataract. They will perform free surgery on those who meet the financial requirements.

Dry Eye Syndrome in Women May be Prevented by Regulating Fatty Acid Intake

Researchers from Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) and Schepens Eye Research Institute (SERI) found that the amount, type and ratio of essential fatty acids in the diet may play a key role in dry eye prevention in women. The study is published in the October 2005 issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
